Gauge: about 9 sc and 10 rounds = 2 in (5 cm). Gauge isn't critical, but the fabric should be firm enough that stuffing doesn't show through. If it does, use a smaller hook.

  • Work in continuous spirals: don't join rounds. Place a marker in the first stitch of each round and move it up as you go.
  • "Sc around" means 1 sc in each stitch of the round.
  • Invisible decrease: insert the hook into the front loop only of the next 2 stitches, yarn over and pull through both front loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops.
  • The right side of the fabric shows neat V shapes. If a piece curls inward with bumps outside, gently push it right side out.

Questions

Is this pattern suitable for a first amigurumi?

Yes, if you can already single crochet and work in the round. Every shape is explained in the free Beginner Amigurumi article, and each round includes a stitch count.

Is the bear safe for babies?

Choose the embroidered-face option, sew every piece on securely, and always supervise young children. Don't use safety eyes for children under 3.

Can I sell bears I make?

Yes, you may sell finished bears you make by hand. Please don't share or resell the PDF.

How will I receive my files?

Once checkout opens, you'll get private download links after your payment is confirmed. Links expire after 24 hours; if one expires, contact us and we'll help.
