Bamboo the Panda is an original amigurumi panda worked in single crochet spirals: a large round head, a two-color body that changes to black at the shoulders, and the tilted oval eye patches that make a panda look like a panda. The pattern includes every round with stitch counts, both safety-eye and embroidered-eye options, a step-by-step assembly order with placement guides, an optional bamboo leaf, and child-safety notes.

  • Every round written out with stitch counts
  • Classic panda colors: white head and body, black ears, eye patches, arms, legs, and shoulders
  • One simple color change, explained step by step
  • Safety-eye or embroidered-eye options
  • Assembly order with placement guide, plus an optional bamboo leaf

Gauge: about 9 sc and 10 rounds = 2 in (5 cm). Gauge isn't critical, but the fabric should be firm enough that stuffing doesn't show through. If it does, use a smaller hook.

Yarn amounts are estimates for the size above. Buy a little extra of each color, especially if you crochet loosely.

  • Work in continuous spirals: don't join rounds. Place a marker in the first stitch of each round and move it up as you go.
  • "Sc around" means 1 sc in each stitch of the round.
  • Invisible decrease: insert the hook into the front loop only of the next 2 stitches, yarn over and pull through both front loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops.
  • Color change: work the last stitch before the change until 2 loops remain on the hook, then yarn over with the new color and pull through. Cut the old color, leaving a 4 in (10 cm) tail to weave in.

Questions

Is this pattern suitable for a first amigurumi?

Yes, if you can already single crochet and work in the round. There is one simple color change in the body, and each round includes a stitch count.

Is the panda safe for babies?

Choose the embroidered-eye option, sew every piece on securely, and always supervise young children. Don't use safety eyes for children under 3.

Has this pattern been test-crocheted?

The stitch counts and instructions have been checked carefully on paper, but the pattern hasn't been through a formal tester round yet. If you spot a problem, please tell us and we'll fix it.

Can I sell pandas I make?

Yes, you may sell finished pandas you make by hand. Please don't share or resell the PDF.

How will I receive my files?

Once checkout opens, you'll get private download links after your payment is confirmed. Links expire after 24 hours; if one expires, contact us and we'll help.
